Genesis Mask

Often fursuiters will take toy masks created for the franchise Jarassic World to use as a base for fursuit heads of their original characters.

I had aquired a T-Rex mask.

I thought up a character design.
The mask was to be painted as a skull and the hood would be moss taking over the bones.
The charcter being the moss itself.

The first thing I did with the mask was cut off all the straps. I then removed the plastic
inner face pieces with a screwdriver,
wire cutters, and a sander.
After removing these parts, I painted multiple layers of gesso to prime the surface.

I aquired a multitude of refernces from online, both real pictures of T-Rex skulls and cartoon diagrams that labeled the names of the pieces.

I used these references to help draw over my mask in Clip Paint Studio to assist me when painting on the actual mask.

The follwing is the finished painted mask.
Done with a handful of acyrlic paints.

The mask took a great deal of time to paint. Some details are going to be covered by moss.

Once all the painting was completed, I covered the whole thing in a layer of mod podge to seal the paint. I then covered the edges and some of the face of the mask with two different crafting mosses.Straps, to keep the mask to one's head, as well as foam was glued into the mask. Black mesh was added to the eyes to obscure the wearers face.A fur hood was then glued over the edges that were covered in moss. This hood would then have moss glued throughout. More moss was added on the mask. I created hands with claws with this moss mixture as well.

The forest green, fur hood, (before being covered in moss and dirt), was created by VolCanixWorx.

I then created a multitude of accessories, such as mushrooms, bugs, and even candy. These accessories can be put anywhere and are held in place by very powerful magnets.
